Unsure how to begin healing after birth?

I hear you! There's a lot of care, support and education leading up to birth, Dr. appointments every month, few weeks and then weekly, but after birth, you get sent home without a manual of how to care for your body, let alone where to begin with exercise!
INSTEAD OF WAITING 6 WEEKS TO JUMP BACK INTO WORKING OUT OR EVEN WORSE, DOING NOTHING THANKS TO FRUSTRATING INTERNET JARGON ABOUT HOW TO "NOT MAKE THINGS WORSE POSTPARTUM"...

Ease into your recovery sooner and at a pace that is appropriate, safe and feels good for YOU!

POSTPARTUM BEGINS AFTER BIRTH, THIS IS THE TIME TO BEGIN YOUR GENTLE RECOVERY...
NOT AT 6 WEEKS.

Before 6 weeks, moms are lifting, carrying or even walking around with their baby. This takes core, this takes effort, this is why waiting 6 weeks to begin recovery is bogus! This isn't about starting a tedious exercise routine immediately, but it is about becoming aware of your body's posture, movement habits and connection to mind.

P.S. let's release the narrative that all bodies are healed and ready for the same thing by 6 weeks postpartum (or even 5 months or 2 years).

BEGIN WHERE YOU ARE. You don't have to be the postpartum mom on the TV show that looks like she was never pregnant by 3 weeks postpartum. I sure as hell wasn't! Or the mom that is scared to do a plank for a year worrying her diastasis is going to "get worse."

NOW'S THE TIME TO BEGIN YOUR RECOVERY...

I'M DR. ASHLEY! AND 11 YEARS AGO I WAS . . .

Frustrated and unsure how to heal my postpartum body!

I'm a mom of 2 spirited girls, yoga student/teacher and doctor of physical therapy.

Frustrated by my own challenging postpartum experiences, a spark was light inside me creating a desire to support other moms in their journeys. This is when I went all in and specialized in pelvic health for pregnancy and postpartum.

My episiotomy/perineal tear during my first birth set me back from where I thought I was supposed to be at a given time (according to the "healed by 6 week" narrative.) On top of that, my belly was soft, fluffy and weak and I didn't know where to begin!

I BEGAN SEARCHING FOR SOME KIND OF MANUAL (or any resources) OF HOW TO CARE FOR MY BODY. I never found one.

It's as if I was in the woods, I knew the destination, but my gps system was just spinning, stuck in rerouting. I had to find my way out without a map... I created my own path and now I'm blessed to share it with others!

The truth about postpartum...

  • We're told to do nothing from week 0-6, then get cleared to do everything... it's outdated advise
  • Postpartum posture mimics pregnancy due to patterns and compensations that overtime can lead to discomfort and pelvic floor symptoms
  • We assume leaking pee is "just part of motherhood" ... it's a lie we've been fed
  • Anxiety can be higher due to worries about making things worse or doing the wrong thing for our body
  • Awareness and connection to our pelvic space is clouded due to the transformation of birth or trauma

POSTPARTUM RECOVERY STARTS RIGHT AFTER BIRTH
& SO SHOULD THE SUPPORT

Imagine if you could..

  • SAFELY EASE INTO RECOVERY within the first 6 weeks so you feel stronger while carrying your baby now
  • HAVE PELVIC PT GUIDANCE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS and stop worrying you're gonna "mess up your core" once you're "cleared to exercise" @ 6 weeks
  • SUPPORT YOUR PELVIC FLOOR during normal tasks such as getting up from the floor with your baby
  • CONNECT TO YOUR PELVIC SPACE and sweep out unwanted emotional and mental gunk so you feel lighter and free
